I hope it was a super Saturday. Here's a photo from a recent car show.

That supercharger makes a cool car rather useless.

I think the point of this is that the car makes the supercharger useful.

If you only want to use it on the quarter mile. Clearly it can no longer be driven on the street.

It can no longer be driven on the street......if you're too much of a pussy. Gotta beast up and handle it, or it shall indeed handle you!

Having seen what a stock chevy 350 can do, I would say that it is more power than one can actually use on most GM 2WD (posi) cars. I have also seen a few under hood superchargers, so this thing makes no sense to me unless the quarter miles is all you car about.

No you're completely right... Some guys are so macho that they feel the need for 800 horses in their street cars. Hell, a mild 327 is enough for me...

Exactly, the 327 is has than enough power. It's also tough so you should only have to build it once. The people who build insane street cars just seem to break things and crash often.
I've got an econoline with a stock 351W, 4 speed stick and posi. It has more than enough power to be a great 5100lb work van. The same drive train in a car is already overkill for the street, unless you need to set the tires on fire, and break things.
